Oil Blued Linking Chain with Caribiners

Oil blued mild steel link chain (4mm) with oil blued 5mm sprung carabiner on each end. (overall length 500 mm ‘ish) circa 137g.

The caribiners fit through each chain link so they can be adapted for length or clipped together to make a hog tie.

Items with an oil blued finish are made from mild steel and so will rust if not cared for correctly.
The oxide colouring on the surface helps hold oil to protect the surface from the atmosphere, but perspiration and oils on the skin can be corrosive to mild steel, so a light rub over with mineral/baby oil before and after use will keep up the protection.
The brown paper wrapping is not ordinary brown paper, it is
Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) paper, it is impregnated with a substance that acts to reduce corrosion of the parts wrapped in it.
Keep the items wrapped in this paper when in storage.
Store indoors at room temperature; storing outdoors, or otherwise cold will allow condensation to form on the surface, causing rust.
If you wish to give a wipe over now and again with surgical spirit/denatured alcohol, ensure item is dry afterwards, then wipe down with mineral oil.
Do not use cleaning products containing Chlorine, or any compounds of it. Chlorine is very reactive and will cause rust on the surface.
